The dry season falls in the months between December to February and again between June to September. Gorilla trekking during the dry season has its advantages. It is also the best time for wildlife safaris in Kenya’s Masai Mara, Tanzania’s Serengeti and the various national parks in Uganda.

Dry Seasons –June to August & December to January
This is an excellent time for gorilla trekking. Daytime temperatures average 20°C/68°F, with an average of 8°C/46°F at night. December & January – Rainfall is lower than in the Wet seasons, but higher than June, July and August.
This is the daily routine of the mountain gorillas in the Virunga Volcanoes: They forage in early morning, they rest in late morning and around midday, in the afternoon they forage again before resting at night.
Uganda is well known to be the safest country in Africa where one can travel to see mountain Gorillas in Africa and it considered as a home to half of the number of mountain gorillas in the whole world.
The park is known for its abundant wildlife, including African elephant, African buffalo, Ugandan kob, hippopotamus, topi, waterbuck, warthog, giant forest hog, Nile crocodile, leopard, spotted hyena, chimpanzee and lion. Overall, the park is home to 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species.
The park’s vegetation is a variety of flora and fauna but consists of small trees’ primary thickets, including acacias and evergreens. The park, however, has five levels of vegetation; bushy grassland, Acacia woodland, Lakeshore or swamp vegetation, and forest grassland.
Queen Elizabeth Biosphere Reserve and National Park straddle the equator in western Uganda. Covering an altitudinal range of 910 to 1,390 meters above sea level, it is composed of a wide range of ecosystems: semi-deciduous tropical high forests, undulating savanna grasslands, Acacia savanna, tundra and wetlands.
